Asselin Transportation and Storage Limited has been fined $8,000, and Eldon Irvin Mose $2,000, plus victim fine surcharges, after pleading guilty to failing to comply with conditions of the company’s certificate of approval.
Court heard that Asselin Transportation and Storage Limited operates a business for the collection, handling, and transportation of non-hazardous liquid industrial waste.
Mose is the president of the company.
In March, 2007, Asselin Transportation transported fuel-contaminated water to the Town of Fort Frances’ waste disposal site. The site was not licensed to accept such waste.
This action violated Condition 5(a) of the company’s certificate of approval.
Asselin Transportation Storage Limited and Mose were charged following an investigation by the Ministry of the Environment’s Investigations and Enforcement Branch.
The defendants were given one year to pay their fines.
Justice of the Peace Tom Logan heard the case March 28 in Fort Frances and imposed sentence.
