Yacht club looking for younger crew

But members of the Rendezvous Yacht Club are hoping to see a few more, especially those of the sailing variety.
Horse show slated at Emo Fairgrounds
Wednesday, 4 August 2010 - 1:00pm There will be some horsing around at the Emo Fairgrounds this weekend as the Borderland Quarter Horse Association will hold its annual show this Friday through Sunday.
Action will begin early, commencing at 9 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday and kicking off at 8 a.m. on Sunday, with days tending to wrap up around 6 p.m. or 7 p.m.
Wolves prepping for showdown with Lightning

The Fort Frances-based Sight & Sound Wolves, who finished the regular season in third place, will visit the Big Grassy Lightning tomorrow night in a battle of the league’s titans.
Super Trucks returning to Emo Speedway
Wednesday, 4 August 2010 - 12:58pm After a five-year hiatus, the Winnipeg Super Trucks are returning to the Emo Speedway by popular demand!
Back in 2005, fans were thrilled and dazzled by three-wide racing and a feature event that had everyone on their feet cheering.
On Saturday, Aug. 7, the action returns to the track with the added bonus of the Winnipeg Super Trucks.
Arpin places 18th in Iowa
Tuesday, 3 August 2010 - 1:50pm Local racer Steve Arpin improved on his starting position once again.
Most recently, Arpin finished 18th in the Nationwide Series’ U.S. Cellular 250 at Iowa Speedway on Saturday.
Arpin had kicked off the race in the 23rd slot on the starting grid.
With the finish, Arpin earned 109 series points to boost him up to 677 points overall, good for 42nd on the circuit.
No playoff upsets yet
Friday, 30 July 2010 - 1:09pm Everything went as expected in Rainy River District Fastball League playoff action last night as all four favourites won their games.
First, the top-seeded Barwick Knights stumped No. 9 Big Island 12-2.
Brad Wakefield went deep to pace the Knights, with J.J. Landry earning the win.
Matt Comegan was tagged for the loss.
Wolves win playoff opener

The Fort Frances-based squad extended its overall win streak to 10 games with a 6-0 win over the reeling Sabaskong Cubs in the first round of the Rainy River District Fastball League playoffs Tuesday night.
Lindholm, Wilcox crowned as FFCBC champs
Wednesday, 28 July 2010 - 1:10pm Two streaks came to an end Saturday at the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship.
Firstly, Dorian Lindholm, once again teamed up with Bill Wilcox of Burleson, Tex., broke a string of visitor dominance at the tournament, becoming the first Fort Frances resident to hoist the trophy since Kent and Steve Ballan had the honour back in 2001.
Berglund honoured by hall induction

These ones will be well-known to hockey fans across North America: Jeremy Roenick, who scored more than 500 goals, as well as the Hatcher brothers, Kevin and Derian, who each played more than 1,000 games as bruising defencemen.
