Weechi-it-te-win Family Services is seeking a professional consultant
to lead the discussion and planning process for Implementation of
Abinoojii Inakonigewin – the Treaty #3 Child Care Law. This is a contract
project which will expire on March 31, 2020.
The primary objective of this project is to determine a transformation
strategy for the implementation of Abinoojii Inakonigewin. It is our
expectation that community consultation will lead to development of
processes and accountability mechanisms imperative for successful
implementation of Abinoojii Inakonigewin; including but not limited to
the transformation of Weechi-it-te-win Family Services.
The following project objectives are based on a previous consultation
with the 10 First Nation Chiefs and Community Care Program
Supervisors affiliated with Weechi-it-te-win:
1. Technical expertise to carry out direction as provided by the
Chiefs and Supervisors in relation to the written law and the
proposed structures within;
2. Development of a Community Consultation guide based on review
of AI and all parallel processes;
3. Engage elders and Cultural Coordinator/Supports;
4. Drafting of a concept paper;
5. Drafting pathway for transformation of WFS;
6. Assist First Nation developments as related to customary law
as needed.
