Manager of Mino Ayaa Ta Win
Preamble
Fort Frances Tribal Area Health Services Inc. is a corporation that
provides health care, mental health and addictions services to the 10
First Nations.
Position Summary
Mino Ayaa Ta Win Manager is responsible for the overall management
of Mino Ayaa Ta Win and supervision of residential treatment and
withdrawal management/detox staff. The Mino Ayaa Ta Win Manager
will coordinate and work closely with First Nations and Tribal area
service agencies and act as a resource and advocate for all; to promote
the values, goals, and philosophy of FFTAHS.
Job Duties

  • Oversee the direct management of all Mino Ayaa Ta Win services and

employees of FFTAHS;

  • Identify client service requirements by establishing personal rapport

with First Nation Communities;

  • Maintain service operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing

program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures;

  • Assist in maintaining staff job results by coaching, counseling, and

disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job
results;

  • Be responsible for the day to day implementation, administration and

oversight of funding agreements pertaining to Mino Ayaa Ta Win
operations;

  • Ensure cultural competency in all aspects of Mino Ayaa Ta Win

operations;

  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by designing and

implementing procedures, rules, and regulations; calling for assistance
from other health care professionals;

  • Protect clients and employees by developing and interpreting

infection-control policies and protocols; enforce safe working
environments, storage procedures, and controlled substance
regulations;

  • Maintain client confidentiality and protect operations by monitoring

confidential information processing;

  • Other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Health or Social Services Sector;
  • Minimum 3 years of treatment experience, preferably in withdrawal

management services and/or mental health and addiction field;

  • Registration with the appropriate regulatory bodies for related

profession;

  • Ability to work independently and provide leadership to the Mino Ayaa

Ta Win team;

  • Certified First Nations Health Manager or willing to achieve

certification;

  • Solid knowledge of mental health and addictions related legislation,

standards and practices;

  • Have the ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions;
  • Have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions;
  • Previous experience working with First Nations people is an asset;
  • Anishinaabemowin - Ability to communicate effectively in Ojibwe a

definite asset;

  • Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and be insurable;
  • Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records check.
