Mental Health Clinician AHT/MATW

Fort Frances Tribal Area Health Services Inc. is a corporation that provides
health care, mental health and addiction treatment services to the 10 First
Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Mental Health at BHS of Fort Frances Tribal
Area Health Services Inc., the Mental Health Clinician provides bi-cultural
clinical counselling specific to victims and family members involved with
Human Trafficking and counselling services to residents of the Mino Ayaa
Ta Win Healing Centre. The Mental Health Clinician is responsible for the
efficient and effective service provision to the Anti-Human Trafficking
program 3 out of 5 days (Monday-Wednesday) a week and the service
provision in mental health counselling to the MATW residential treatment
clients 2 out of 5 days a week (Thursday-Friday).
Job Duties

  • Provides one-on-one counselling, group counselling and clinical

support to deal with issues directly connected to Human Trafficking and
Addictions/Mental Health at MATW;

  • Provides group counselling and clinical support to deal with issues of

violence, grief, and drug and alcohol-related issues that come as a
result of Human Trafficking, Addictions, and Mental Health;

  • Provide comprehensive case management to identified sexually

exploited individuals as well as those at-risk for being targeted for
commercial sexual exploitation;

  • Provides crisis intervention and prevention services to individuals,

families, and communities upon referral and/or request that are
connected to disclosures of Human Trafficking;

  • Provide client advocacy and case conferencing with internal and

external service providers as deemed appropriate and in relation to
Human Trafficking and After-care plans for clients of MATW;

  • Regular data entry into the case management data system of BHS to

ensure timely and accurate case recording.

  • University degree in Social Work or Psychology;
  • Two years’ experience working in the field or similar discipline;
  • Have the ability to work effectively with First Nation community

members and leadership;

  • Have the ability to work with people with concurrent disorders,

multigenerational trauma, and an understanding of Human Trafficking
as it presents in First Nations communities;

  • Have the ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions;
  • Have the ability to establish and maintain harmonious working

relationships with other employees and the public;

  • Person’s with lived experience in Human Trafficking and or Recovery/

Wellness a definite asset;

  • Have documented experience working with First Nation health and/or

social service agencies;

  • Have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions;
  • Anishinaabemowin – Ability to communicate effectively in Ojibway a

definite asset;

  • Knowledge of Anishinaabe culture, practices and norms or an openness

and willing to learn;

  • Experience working with First Nations people, organizations and
