is seeking to hire a

FINANCE CLERK
The Finance Clerk is a full-time salary position of the Naicatchewenin
Development Corporation. The responsibility of the Finance Clerk is to
provide financial service and support for the development corporation’s
overall operations.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

  • Accounts Payable – Process bills for payments, prepare cheque

requisitions, attach purchase orders to bills, obtain approval for
requisitions, review customer statements and obtain signatures on
all cheques;

  • Process payroll on a bi-weekly basis;
  • Receipts and deposits – Complete and code the cash receipts journal

and enter weekly into computer, receives cheques/payments and issues
receipts, ensures cheques are in safe keeping, prepare deposits, and take
deposits to the bank;

  • Ensure journal entries are entered on a timely basis to ensure expenses are

up-to-date;

  • Prepare journal entries as required with proper documentation attached;
  • Ensure each month that the General Ledger accounts have been properly

reconciled and recorded as assigned;

  • Respects and maintains confidentiality at all times;
  • Will perform other related duties as directed by the Director of

Administration.
THE INDIVIDUAL MUST HAVE SKILLS AND ABILITIES AS FOLLOWS:

  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Possess positive interpersonal skills;
  • Possess good organizational and time management skills;
  • Possess strong computer skills and familiarity with word processing,

spreadsheets, and the internet;

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to take direction and follow through;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to speak Ojibway would be an asset.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Post-secondary Diploma in Finance or Business, OR Grade 12 Diploma/

GED with financial training and three years of working experience in
Finance or Business;

  • Knowledge of the community and family structures, customs and

traditions, and administrative structure and operations of First Nations.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

  • Must sign Oath of Confidentiality;
  • Must provide a Criminal Reference Check that is satisfactory to the

First Nation;

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and vehicle access or reliable means

of transportation;

  • Adhere to Naicatchewenin First Nation Drug Testing Policy.
