FAMILY NAVIGATOR/ INFANT
CHILD DEVELOPMENT WORKER
ONE 1 FTE

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Family Navigator/ Infant Child Development Worker will act under
the supervision of the Director of Health and Social Services. They will
coordinate and oversee all aspects of the Children First Initiative clients;
to provide case management services to support clients and family
members while developing individual care plans for the clients. The Family
Navigator/Infant Child Development Worker will strive to promote stable
and supportive families and communities and work in collaboration with
specialists, outside agencies and community staff.
The Family Navigator/Infant Child Development Worker will provide
a family centered psycho-social approach to intervention services for
infants and children who are at risk of developmental delay or who have
been diagnosed with a developmental or sensory disability. They will
demonstrate understanding of the influences on child development
including parental health and knowledge, family functioning, community
and social supports.
The Family Navigator/ Infant Child Development Worker will act as a
resource and advocate for all; to promote the values, goals, and philosophy
of Naicatchewenin First Nation.
ACCOUNTABILITY
The Family Navigator/ Infant Child Development Worker will act under
the supervision of the Director of Health Services for all duties and
responsibilities contained in the Terms of Reference. This reporting
relationship is maintained by:
1. Submitting monthly activity, quarterly and year end reports.
2. Attends all regularly scheduled staff meetings.
3. Attends meetings with the Director of Health and Social Services for the
purpose of supervision as requested.
4. Maintains regular Band Office hours or hours approved by the Director of
Health and Social services for the purpose of programming.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum two-year Human Services Diploma is required; an Early

Childhood Education or Child and Youth Worker Diploma is preferred or
alternatively Registered Practical Nurse and relevant related experience
and Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and
no restrictions.

  • Solid knowledge of Jordan’s Principle, health care related legislation

and practices.

  • Understanding of the Ministry of Social Services.
  • Ability to work independently and provide leadership to the health

care team.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to personal and client safety.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
  • Experience working with children who have a complex care need

is preferred.

  • Have the ability to read, write, to carry out directions promptly and keep

records, where required.

  • Have the ability to perform tasks of the services to be provided.
