Frigid temperatures didn’t stop students at St. Michael’s from having a blast while going on dog sled rides around the school yard yesterday morning. The rides were provided by Burton Penner of Borealis Sled Dog Adventures from Vermilion Bay and kicked off a fun-filled day there, with students later taking part in literacy activities.

Infant Anthony Brunetta, seen here with dad, Ryan Brunetta, and mom, Ellen Gibson, was the focus of attention for students in Becky Booth’s Grade 2 class at Robert Moore School on Friday during the “Roots of Empathy” program.

“Friends of the Library” president Cathy Robinson admired some of the penny auction items on display at the Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre in preview of the annual Valentine’s bake sale and cookie walk slated there this coming Monday (Feb. 13).

Alex Gustafson went airborne to keep the play alive for the Muskie junior boys’ basketball team last Wednesday as they took on the Dryden Eagles in NorWOSSA action here. Gustafson was able to keep the ball in-bounds as the black-and-gold cruised to a 53-21 victory. See story C8.
