Despite the chilly temperature this morning, St. Michael’s School students were all smiles as they had a chance to go for dog sled rides around the school grounds with Burton Penner of Borealis Sled Dog Adventures from Vermilion Bay.

Grade 1 students Izzy White, left, and Emily Fitzgerald of St. Michael’s School celebrated the 100th day of classes yesterday by donning spiffy “100th day” glasses and taking part in a variety of classroom activities based around the number “100.”

Madison Weir of the BDO Stars tried to knock the puck away from Janelle Kaemingh (NorFab Flames) before she could get a shot on Stars’ goalie Kate Parsons during the Stars’ 8-0 win Friday afternoon in the opening game of the Fort Frances Girls’ Hockey Association’s Bantam/Midget tournaments.

“Friends of the Library” president Cathy Robinson, left, and member Barb Marr are updating their membership and callings lists, and encouraging fellow “Friends” to fill out the lists at the Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre as soon as possible, especially if they’d like to help out by donating goodies for the annual Valentine’s bake sale and cookie walk coming up there next
