Participants and spectators are wanted for the “Scott Street Show ’n Shine,” presented by the International Early Iron Car Club, on Saturday, June 9 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The registration fee is $15 and barbecued food will be available, with proceeds going to the annual Fort High bursary fund.

Kim Churchill will be playing at Cornell Farms on June 12, 2012 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Kim is one of Australia's best kept secrets. His unique style involves intricate finger picking, percussive beats on his guitar and powerful melodies. Kim has played at the Live from the Rock Folk Festival in Red Rock and torued with Harry Manx. The opener will be fellow Australian Benjalu.

The annual “Strawberry Social,” hosted by the La Verendrye Hospital Auxiliary, will be held Thursday, June 14 from 1-4 p.m. on the hospital grounds. Enjoy strawberry shortcake, ice cream, and a drink for $4. There also will be tables featuring plants, baking, and used books, along with a “Lucky Dozen” raffle and the “Pick-a-Strawberry” game.

The annual “Relay for Life” gets underway today (June 15) at Fort Frances High School, with opening ceremonies at 6:30 p.m. and the “Survivors’ Lap” to follow. The luminary ceremony—“A Walk to Remember”—then will be held at 10 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
