The Border Skating Club is holding a fundraising BBQ and Laser Tag Event on Saturday, July 4th at the Legion Park from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Come out for lunch and some fun!!!
Stock car racing will be held Saturday, July 4 at the Emo Speedway (weather permitting). Hot laps are at 7 p.m., with the first race at 7:30. This week will feature Cancer Awareness Night as well as bicycle races.

The fifth-annual Kingsley Downs & Gus Lindberg Memorial slo-pitch tournament will run tonight through Sunday at the Devlin ball park. There will be a canteen and beer garden, as well as karaoke with Lisa McPherson on the Saturday under the big tent. Spectators welcome.

The inaugural Fort Frances Folk Festival is scheduled for Saturday, July 18 starting at 1 p.m. at the Little Beaver Snow Park lodge. “Day passes,” available at Sight & Sound, the Fort Frances Museum, Fort Frances Public Library, and Moss Yogo Studios, cost $20 for adults, $15 for teens aged 15-18, and $10 for children aged six-14 (those five and under are free).

The “My Bass” 5K run will take place Saturday, July 25 at 8:30 p.m. at the Sorting Gap Marina. Registration forms are available at Energy Fitness Centre up until Friday, July 24. Runners also can register the morning of the race. Registration fee is $20 for the 5K run, $2 for the children’s 1K run preceding the 5K run. Open to everyone. The 18th-annual fish fry, hosted by the Halkirk fire protection team, will be held Saturday, Aug. 1 from noon-6 p.m. at the Bear Pass fire hall (on Bear Pass Road). Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids. There also will be homemade pies and a penny auction. No dogs, please.
