The sudden and tragic death of a local teen here last Wednesday evening has led to an outpouring of support from the community. An estimated 400 people came out for a brief memorial ceremony Monday evening that Fort Frances Youth Soccer held for Bryce Devoe, who was killed by lightning on one of the soccer pitches at the St. Francis Sportsfields.
Six local businesses are showing their support for the “Building for the Future” library fundraising campaign here by offering to donate 10 cents per bag to the cause when their customers bring in and use their own cloth or canvas shopping bags instead of plastic ones.

On Saturday around 7:30 a.m., Emo OPP officers investigated a motor vehicle collision on Highway #502, five km north of Cedar Narrows Road. The driver of a northbound truck trailering a boat crossed the centre line and collided with a southbound truck trailering a boat.

The season is over for Fort High’s golfers after they placed sixth out of eight teams at a tournament in Sioux Lookout on Thursday with a total score of 366.
Four members of the Muskie senior boys’ basketball team came home winners from the NBA 3-on-3 tournament held in Winnipeg over the weekend, topping their eight-team division.
