Name change delayed
Thursday, 29 October 2009 - 1:10pmStaff
The Atikokan Crisis Centre won’t be renamed just yet due to the sheer volume of new name suggestions submitted by the public.
The centre’s board of directors had hoped to choose a new name at its monthly meeting this past Tuesday, but postponed making a final decision.
“What a wonderful problem to have!” she enthused.
Kroocmo said the board wishes to thank everyone for their submissions, and to advise a new name will be chosen in the near future as it requires further time to contemplate the ideas generated.
“Thank you to all those who submitted names, logos, and ideas,” she added.
The hunt for a new name began just over a month ago in hopes of finding one that better reflected what the Atikokan Crisis Centre does.
This includes providing safety and shelter to abused women and their children, as well as raising awareness on domestic violence across all of Rainy River District, not just Atikokan.
