The OPP is looking for information following an act of vandalism at the Cranberry Peatlands Interpretive Trail in Alberton.
Sometime between Oct. 18 and 20, a park bench the Rainy River Valley Field Naturalists had installed earlier this month was demolished and thrown into the pond.

The bench—which has since been replaced—was meant to be dedicated in memory of the late Victor Raiche.
“The RRVFN is a volunteer group which has worked hard to create, build, and maintain and improve the interpretive trail for the benefit of the public,” the group said in a release concerning the vandalism.
“This selfish act to destroy public property donated by volunteers is extremely frustrating to the RRVFN.
“The bench was removed from the raised platform where it provided a resting spot for users at the end of the trail. It had been secured to the deck with screws and steel brackets,” the release also noted.
The incident was reported to police Oct. 20.
