Loney to address ag panel

Emo businessman Mark Loney is scheduled to appear as a witness at the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food meeting tomorrow as part of the ongoing “Product of Canada” study.
Local MP Ken Boshcoff’s office has been working with Loney in his efforts to receive approval from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency to label and sell Canadian-made jam in his Emo grocery store.

“It is very discouraging for me to see the numerous administrative hurdles that this government agency is forcing small business owners and independent producers to jump through to get their products to market,” said Boshcoff, who sits on the committee.
“Livelihoods in our riding are dependent on attaining efficiencies in the sale and distribution of local and Canadian products.
“I am hopeful that the examples provided by Mr. Loney will provide the committee with information that leads to positive changes,” Boshcoff added.
