False rumours
Wednesday, April 30, 2008
Dear editor:
During my absence from the area over the past two weeks, there has been a rumour circulating around town that I had resigned as chairman of the library and technology centre’s “Building for the Future” fundraising campaign.
Both rumours are false.
While local fundraising has been temporarily suspended, ongoing efforts have been taking place to investigate and apply for corporate and government funds.
Although no “large-scale” organized events currently are planned, the fundraising has, in fact, continued and is growing. We still are accepting donations.
These efforts will continue.
The fundraising committee still is committed to reaching its goal of $750,000—as it has always been—and is ready to move ahead with its plans for local fundraising.
We hope to do so in the near future.
Sincerely,
Mark Kowalchuk
Chairman, ‘Building for
the Future’ campaign
