Youth rangers wrap up summer

From the Stewardship Youth Rangers

Our eighth and final week as Stewardship Youth Rangers in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry summer program was a whirlwind of activity!

We spent another day with Brian Love of the Rainy River District Trappers Association in Mine Centre building 18 pine marten nesting boxes. We learned more about pine marten behaviour and habitat, including how they use the nesting boxes for their young in winter.

We also helped clear and restore the pow-wow grounds at Couchiching First Nation.
