MP still remains in Liberal caucus

OTTAWA—A Liberal member of Parliament facing what he calls an allegation following an incident in Halifax on the weekend remains a member of the government caucus.

But so far, no one is saying much about the matter.

The chief of staff to government whip Pablo Rodriguez says Francis Drouin, MP for the eastern Ontario riding of Glengarry-Prescott-Russell, is still a Liberal MP.

Ottawa to open door to disabled immigrants

OTTAWA—After four decades, the federal government is getting rid of rules that turned away would-be immigrants with intellectual or physical disabilities, Immigration minister Ahmed Hussen said yesterday.

The government no longer will be allowed to reject permanent resident applications from those with serious health conditions or disabilities.
