Capitals ground Jets as 'Ovie' nets #600

WASHINGTON—Make it 600 goals and counting for Alex Ovechkin, and give the Washington Capitals two more points for the tough playoff race in the Eastern Conference.

Ovechkin scored twice in another historic performance, and Evgeny Kuznetsov had the overtime winner, as the Capitals returned to first place by edging the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 last night.

Vikings keep rolling

LANDOVER, Md.—Members of the Minnesota Vikings' offence leapfrogged over each other, then did the same to the Washington Redskins.

Case Keenum threw touchdowns to four different receivers to build a big lead as the NFC North-leading Vikings won their fifth in a row by beating the Redskins 38-30 yesterday afternoon despite two second-half interceptions.

Leafs nab first home win

TORONTO—When a lead evaporated in 58 seconds and a goal was taken off the board on a coach’s challenge, it looked like it just wasn’t the Toronto Maple Leafs’ night.

Again.

Then Joffrey Lupul scored twice, and James Reimer found his groove, as the Leafs earned their first home victory of the season by beating the Dallas Stars 4-1 last night at Air Canada Centre.
