EWC to hold draw on Saturday

The top 50 finishers from the 2008 Emo Walleye Classic made their Nov. 15 deadline and are registered for next May’s tournament, but six more teams will have their names drawn for positions #50-#56 this Saturday (Dec. 6) during “Holly Daze” in Emo.

The draw will be held at 3 p.m. at Tompkins Hardware.

The Muskie junior girls’ volleyball team opened action with a home tournament over the weekend.

The team was split into two squads and fared well during round-robin play, but both teams were eliminated in the quarter-finals.

Dominos win

Dominos beat Taggs Source for Sports 76-59 in the only men’s basketball league game Monday night at Fort High (the Muskies were across in the Falls for a scrimmage).

John Sivonen led the Dominos’ attack with 27 points while Morgan Anderson replied with 23 for Taggs.

Local jr. curlers advance

A pair of local junior curlers have advanced to their respective provincial playdowns next month.

Jenna Enge of Devlin, a member of Sarah Lang’s rink out of the Fort William Curling Club in Thunder Bay, went a perfect 4-0 at the Junior Inter-Regionals 1&2 playdowns in Kakabeka Falls over the weekend to earn a provincial berth at the ladies’ showdown in early January.
