A team of four local curlers has advanced to the senior women’s provincial playdowns in Blind River at the end of February.
Judy LaBelle and her rink of Nancy Evans, Mary-Beth Tkachuk, and Trudy Badiuk finished in a tie for first place at 3-2 at the inter-regional playdowns in Fort Frances last week.

The draw for a trip to Las Vegas will be held this Saturday (Jan. 9) at the Emo arena.
Organized by the Friends of the Emo/La Vallee Community Centre, tickets cost $2 each, which can be purchased up to the draw time (4 p.m.)
Hockey members are encouraged to get their tickets in ASAP.

I am fortunate to have my family from St. Thomas, Ont. in for two weeks. As such, I’ll be taking a two-week holiday from my Devlin news.

Once again, the community of Emo is hosting its annual “Holly Daze” celebrations this Friday and Saturday (Dec. 4-5).
A parade is slated for Friday starting at 6 p.m., with hot chocolate to be served afterwards.
As well, the St. Patrick’s C.W.L. in Emo will hold a Christmas tea and bake sale on Saturday from 1-3 p.m.
Once again, the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season is upon us—and several activities are planned throughout the district.
One such event taking place is a tea and bake sale being hosted by the Fort Frances Aquanauts this Saturday (Nov. 28) from noon-3 p.m. at the Fort Frances Volunteer Bureau (old CN station).
Admission is $2.
A spaghetti supper fundraiser for Jessica Engels is planned for Friday, Nov. 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Devlin Hall.
Jessica, the daughter of Trudy and Chris Shine, is scheduled to undergo heart surgery in London, Ont. that day.
Treat yourself to the “Sounds of Holiday Cheer” as the Borderland Children’s Choir performs this Saturday (Nov. 14) at 7 p.m. at Knox United Church in Emo.
Admission is $10/person and $25/family.
