Shine named as top senior

Congratulations to Lois Shine, who was honoured as Senior of the Year during the annual Devlin/La Vallee Christmas dinner on Sunday (Dec. 12).

Although I don’t have all the details of the many things Lois does for both the Devlin community centre and Emo Legion, I do know she sells tickets by the hundreds and always has a cheery disposition.

Seniors set to enjoy annual ‘tour of lights’

The Emo-La Vallee-Chapple Health Communities Coalition once again will be hosting a “tour of lights” for seniors tomorrow (Dec. 2).

This is a free bus tour to view the Christmas lights around Emo.

Pick-up will be at the Golden Age Manor and Queen Street Manor at 6 p.m.

Coffee and hot chocolate then will be served at these locations after drop-off.

Remembrance Day services slated

Remembrance Day services will be held across the district tomorrow (Nov. 11).

A church service will be held in Barwick at 10 a.m., followed by cenotaph ceremonies in Barwick (11 a.m.), Stratton (11:45 a.m.), Devlin (1:45 p.m.), Emo (2:30 p.m.), and Rainy River First Nations (3:15 p.m.)

A Remembrance Day luncheon also will be held at the Emo Legion starting at 12:30 p.m.
