Harvest supper planned

Guthrie United Church here in Devlin is holding a harvest supper once again.

This year’s supper, featuring turkey and ham and all the trimmings, will take place Sunday, Oct. 3 from 5-7 p.m. at the Devlin Hall.

Admission is $13 for adults and $6 for children aged six-12, with those five and under free.

Residents invited to learn about Britain

The Emo/La Vallee/Chapple Health Communities Coalition is encouraging one and all to join them to “Learn About Britain.”

This afternoon event will take place next Wednesday (Sept. 22) from 1-3 p.m. in the common room at the Golden Age Manor in Emo.

This is the 14th stop as the Community Country Club “travels” the world. If you have a Country Club passport, bring it along.

Dance Supper coming up Sunday

There will be a pig roast supper this Sunday evening (Sept. 12) at the Dance Hall.

A delicious meal of pork, potatoes, vegetables, salads & decadent desserts will make up the menu. The cost is $12 for adults, children $6, kids 5 + under eat free.

These are always fun evenings of great food and visiting friends from near and far.

Devlin anglers do well

Two Devlin fishing teams cracked the top 10 at the sixth-annual International Falls Bass Championship held Friday and Saturday (Aug. 27-28).

Bill Godin and Ralph Galusha finished in sixth place out of the 60 teams entered, followed by Dale LaBelle and Karl Howells in seventh.

Caul crowned as top logger once again

Kelvin Caul once again was crowned as the champion logger, as well as the “safe logger,” following the 2010 loggers’ competition held Friday morning in conjunction with the Emo Fair.

Darryl Desserre was named rookie-of-the-year.

This was the 25th year of the popular competition. The late Gaston Godbout still holds many of the records, but Caul is catching up to him.
