‘Holly Daze’ in Emo set to go

Emo’s annual “Holly Daze” festivities are set to go this Friday and Saturday (Dec. 2-3).

The highlight is the Santa Claus parade, which happens on Friday starting at 6 p.m., but plenty of events are planned for both days.

Also be sure to register to win one of two prizes of $250 in “Emo Bucks,” which will be drawn on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Emo Drugs.

Remembrance Day services set for district cenotaphs

Several Remembrance Day services will be held across the district on Friday (Nov. 11) to honour our war dead.

Here in Devlin, a cenotaph service is slated for 2:30 p.m., followed by one in Emo at 3 p.m.

As always, Emo Legion Br. #99 is holding special events that day to underscore the importance of Remembrance Day, including a free-will luncheon at 1 p.m.

Hallowe’en food drive underway at Crossroads

The student council and volunteer club at Crossroads School in Devlin yesterday kicked off their annual “Hunger for Hallowe’en” food drive.

Students and their families are being asked to donate non-perishable food items while they are out trick-or-treating next Monday (Oct. 31).

Food items can be delivered to the school, with the drive running until Friday, Nov. 4.

Hospital auxiliary ready to host fall tea

The Emo and District Hospital Auxiliary will host its annual fall tea and bazaar on Friday, Oct. 14 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Emo Legion.

Admission is $3, and donations of baking, crafts, or white elephant items would be appreciated.

Funds raised will assist the auxiliary with their projects throughout the year.
