Arpin vaults to sixth place in ARCA standings

Steve Arpin ended last Thursday’s ARCA RE/MAX Series Kansas Lottery 150 at the Kansas Speedway with an eighth-place finish—good enough to move the Fort Frances racing talent up to sixth place in the driver standings.

Although it marked Arpin’s 11th top-10 finish of the season, the final rundown was no indication of just how strong Arpin drove the Venturini Motorsports No. 15 car.

‘Luncheon of Hope’ slated for Oct. 24

The date for the always-popular “Luncheon of Hope” has been announced for Saturday, Oct. 24 at La Place Rendez-Vous.

Tickets cost $25 each and are on sale now at Pharmasave, Shoppers Drug Mart, Emo Health Centre, Rainy River Health Centre, and La Verendrye Hospital.

The Rainy River District Breast Health Network organizes the luncheon, which is held every two years.

Lac Seul causeway now open

The official opening of the new causeway and bridge span at La Seul First Nation was announced Friday.

“This project is a good example of how our government is working to improve the lives of First Nations and stimulate economic growth,” said Kenora MP Greg Rickford, who made the announcement on behalf of Indian Affairs minister Chuck Strahl.
