Tips on break-in sought

The Rainy River District OPP currently is investigating a break and enter to a business on the 100 block of Scott Street in Fort Frances.

The break-in took place sometime between 6 p.m. on July 12 and 7 a.m. on July 14.

Driver facing charges

Shortly after 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, the Rainy River District OPP was called regarding a vehicle driving erratically on Highway 11 near Atikokan—nearly causing two head-on collisions.

The vehicle was located a short time later.

Officers stopped the vehicle and conducted an investigation.

Man’s death probed

The OPP was asked Tuesday to assist the Lac Seul Police Service in connection with the death of 56-year-old Lac Seul First Nation resident Donald Wesley.

Under the direction of the coroner, a post-mortem examination was conducted at Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora.

The cause of death is not being released at this time.

Youths found safe

The Rainy River District OPP has located two missing youths.

Trinity George, 13, and Nikki Lockman, 14, were located safe at an Alberton residence at 12:50 p.m. today.

They last were seen yesterday near Point Park in Fort Frances.

The OPP wish to thank the public for their assistance.

Grass fires tips sought

Over the past several weeks, members of the Rainy River District OPP were called to investigate suspicious grass fires.

These incidents occurred in the Township of La Vallee and Emo.

Man drowns

On Thursday around 4:30 p.m., Atikokan OPP officers responded to a call for assistance on Marmion Lake.

A 63-year-old Missouri man, who had entered the water to retrieve a boat, subsequently went underwater and did not surface.

Crash victim identified

Police responded to a two-vehicle collision Tuesday on Highway 17 in Mutrie Township near Dryden.

The driver of one vehicle died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision with a cattle truck at around 5:30 p.m.

He has been identified as David Bowes, 63, of Ear Falls.

Motorist busted in stop

On May 31 around 8:35 a.m., Dryden OPP officers initiated a stop for a highway traffic offence on Highway 17 within the City of Dryden.

As a result, a large amount of cocaine was seized, along with a large amount of methamphetamine, with a total value of $120,000.

A large amount of Canadian currency also was located and seized.

Woman found dead

On Saturday around 10:55 a.m., a Thunder Bay woman was located deceased within Sleeping Giant Provincial Park.

The Thunder Bay OPP was advised of a report of a missing woman at the park on Thursday around 10:20 p.m.
