District fire ‘out’

Two new fires were confirmed in the Northwest Region by yesterday afternoon.

Fort Frances Fire #17 already has been declared “out” at 0.1 hectares.

But Thunder Bay Fire #45 was listed as “not under control” at 0.3 ha in size.

The lightning-caused blaze is located near Whitefin Lake.

New fires over weekend

There was one new fire confirmed by yesterday afternoon.

Kenora District fire #46 was located near Kilvert Lake.

It was declared “out” at 0.1 hectares

There was one new fire reported on Saturday.

Kenora District fire #45 was located near Canoe Lake. It was “out” at 0.3 ha. in size.

Quiet on fire scene

No new fires were confirmed in the Northwest Region by yesterday afternoon.

The forest fire hazard is forecast to be “low” in the southwest sector of the region and “moderate-high” in the north and east ones.

Meanwhile, the out-of-province deployment of Ontario fire management personnel is coming to an end, with all resources scheduled to return home today.
