Global condemnation, condolences after mosque attack

BRUSSELS — World leaders expressed condolences and condemnation Friday following the deadly attacks on mosques in the New Zealand city of Christchurch, while Muslim leaders said the mass shooting was evidence of a rising tide of violent anti-Islam sentiment.

In a tweet, U.S. President Donald Trump sent “warmest sympathy and best wishes” to the people of New Zealand.

UN prosecutors: Mladic ‘called the shots’ in Bosnian war

THE HAGUE, Netherlands — Gen. Ratko Mladic “called the shots” as his troops murdered and expelled thousands of civilians to carve out an ethnically pure Serb mini-state in Bosnia during the Balkan nation’s 1992-95 war, a United Nations prosecutor said Monday as Mladic’s genocide trial neared its end.
