Dwarf moon detected

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla.—Chalk up a moon for the icy dwarf planet Makemake.

The Hubble Space Telescope has detected a tiny, dark moon circling the dwarf planet on the frozen fringes of our solar system.

On Tuesday, scientists announced the discovery by some members of the team that spotted Pluto’s smaller moons years ago.

Makemake itself is just 870 miles wide.

SpaceX able to land booster rocket

SpaceX sent a Falcon rocket soaring toward orbit last night with 11 small satellites—its first mission since an accident last summer.

Then in an even more astounding feat, it landed the 15-storey leftover booster back on Earth safely.

It was the first time an unmanned rocket returned to land vertically at Cape Canaveral, Fla. and represented a tremendous success for SpaceX.
