Airline faces wrath of leggings wearers in boarding flap

NEW YORK — Don’t mess with our stretch, United Airlines, or risk the wrath of leggings lovers.

The social media matter of The Kids in Leggings vs. United snapped to the surface Sunday. That’s when one Shannon Watts said on Twitter she had witnessed a gate agent refusing to let two girls board a flight from Denver to Minneapolis because of their leggings.

The pinks had it Sunday on the Golden Globes red carpet, from Ryan Michelle Bathe on the arm of hubby Sterling K. Brown to a stunning Lily Collins in princessy Zuhair Murad, hair up in a loose, dramatic bun.

Collins’ couture gown was a light shade with a floral design. She went with her first choice to go with Harry Winston jewels.

Dictionary.com’s word of the year is ‘xenophobia’

NEW YORK — You might have thought about it, heard it. A lot. You might have even felt it: Dictionary.com’s word of the year is “xenophobia.”

While it’s difficult to get at exactly why people look up words in dictionaries, online or on paper, it’s clear that in contentious 2016, fear of “otherness” bruised the collective consciousness around the globe.

In vintage David Letterman style, the grumpster has posted her Top 10 pet peeves on her new blog at Pawculture.com, but absent is the multimillion-dollar thing that might just annoy her the most: money talk.

A mixed red carpet in colours and cut for the Emmys

Kerry Washington, always a red carpet favourite, won the Emmys red carpet Sunday, showing off her huge baby bump in a black custom Brandon Maxwell strapless gown with daring cutouts, her hair long, loose and curly.

“She was dressing for two and got the proportions just right,” said Rickie De Sole, fashion market director for W magazine.
