‘Hardrick Hop’ latest craze in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG—When Jermarcus Hardrick first jumped into the home crowd after a Blue Bombers’ touchdown, it caught some fans by surprise.

“I scared some little kids over here,” the 6’5”, 314-pound offensive right tackle said after Wednesday’s practice while pointing to the end-zone stands.

Home fans might see a lot more of the celebration, which has been coined the “Hardrick Hop.”

Bad breaks costly for Jets

WINNIPEG—An unfortunate bounce cost the Winnipeg Jets in more ways than one.

Kyle Okposo scored the game-winner 2:20 into overtime as the Jets fell 4-3 to the N.Y. Islanders—their sixth-straight loss at home and ninth in their last 10 at MTS Centre.

Islanders’ forward Frans Nielsen had blasted the puck toward the net, but it hit Jets’ rookie forward Nikolaj Ehlers in the face.

Kane gets last laugh on Jets

WINNIPEG—Buffalo Sabres’ forward Evander Kane got the last laugh yesterday afternoon.

Kane assisted on the game’s final empty-net goal, which gave Sam Reinhart a hat trick and the Sabres a 4-2 win that halted their six-game losing skid.

Kane was playing his first game against the team that traded him last Feb. 11 in a multi-player deal that many fans considered good riddance.
