Bombers looking to move past loss

WINNIPEG—Paul LaPolice had something important to say to Andrew Harris.

After Tuesday's practice, the Blue Bombers' offensive co-ordinator told reporters about a conversation he had with the star running back after Saturday night's 20-17 loss to the B.C. Lions.

“At the three-yard line, I should have gotten you one of those two touches,'” LaPolice said of his words to Harris.

Bombers nipped by Eskimos in epic CFL opener

WINNIPEG—You wouldn't think a field-goal kicker would have the greatest focus at 1 a.m. but Sean Whyte did.

The Edmonton Eskimos' 10-year veteran booted a 44-yard field goal with eight seconds to go to lift his team to a 33-30 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers early Friday in the longest continuous game in CFL history—and second-longest overall.

Jets take opener against Wild

WINNIPEG—Joe Morrow felt a bit like he was wearing glass slippers instead of skates last night.

The Jets' defenceman scored at 12:47 of the third period to lift the Winnipeg Jets to a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild in Game 1 of their first-round NHL Western Conference playoff series.

“I've had a major roller-coaster of an NHL career so far,” the 25-year-old Morrow said.
