When I was growing up, my father would take us to get fresh hot doughnuts from Krispy Kreme every Sunday. The cake doughnuts, covered in peanuts or dipped in sprinkles, were always my favourite. And to this day, I crave cake doughnuts.

For some reason, Mother’s Day has become synonymous with breakfast in bed. Maybe it is because it is the easiest meal of the day and even folks who can’t cook can make toast.
Though most of my brisket experience has been spent at the smoker or the grill, I have fond memories of braised brisket, which I usually enjoyed during Passover with my Jewish relatives.
At Easter, there is just nothing better than a spiral-cut ham! Because I grew up with my grandmother roasting fresh, white, uncured hams, a sweet-glazed spiral-cut ham has always been a delicacy to me.
For me, St. Patrick’s Day isn’t just an excuse to drink Irish whiskey and Guinness. It’s also an excuse to bake with them!
Not too long ago, I had an idea to bake a chocolate cake spiked with Guinness, then topped with a whiskey glaze. The affinity between the chocolate and the Guinness was amazing.
Recently, I went to France to test drive some porcelain cookware. I wanted to see how it handled my favourite cooking method ....... grilling!

The best New Year’s Eve party I ever attended was a progressive graze of one appetizer after another all evening. When a dish came off the grill or out of the oven, we nibbled on it until we were ready for the next course. What a great vibe.
As long as I can remember, I have been a fan of eggnog. And I’m no snob about it. I’ll drink store-bought as readily as homemade. It’s all creamy and delicious. And I’m always game to try new variations.
