Nominees being sought for top senior

This is the time of year when the Township of La Vallee is asking for nominations for its “Senior of the Year” award. Residents are asked to nominate someone who they think should receive it.

The nominees has to be a resident of our township, be age 65 or older, and someone who has made our community a better place to live through volunteering their time, etc.

Firefighters able to extinguish blaze

Back on Jan. 17, volunteer firefighters from La Vallee and Emo responded to a blaze on Wasaw Road in which a chimney fire at a residence spread to the attic.

Fortunately, it was extinguished quickly using a transitional attack using dry chemicals.

Fire Chief Josh Collins was grateful for all the volunteers that responded and the efficient way the fire was put out.

La Vallee reeve re-elected to new term

The 2018 municipal election results are in, with Ken McKinnon being re-elected as reeve for La Vallee on Monday.

When speaking with him the Tuesday, he said he}s looking forward to the next four years and continuing to support the residents of our area.

The councillors for La Vallee, who all were acclaimed, are Jim Belluz, Glen Aveyard, Dan Rea, and Elaine Hughes.
