Leonard leads Raptors over Nets

TORONTO—Kawhi Leonard was challenged by his head coach to show some fire and when it mattered most, he came through.

Leonard had a game-high 30 points, and hit the winning shot with 4.2 seconds left, as the Toronto Raptors edged the Brooklyn Nets 127-125 last night.

Raptors' head coach Nick Nurse said the NBA all-star appeared unmotivated over the last four games.

Kadri line powers Leafs to victory

TORONTO—All it took was a subtle change of the forward lines to unlock some new-found offence.

Nazem Kadri picked up his fourth-career hat trick, and recorded a career-high five points, as the Toronto Maple Leafs doubled the Columbus Blue Jackets 6-3 last night.

Kadri's line, consisting of Patrick Marleau and Mitch Marner, combined for five goals and five assists in the win.

Leafs hold off Lightning

TORONTO—The Toronto Maple Leafs didn't let a late Tampa Bay rally affect their game plan last night.

Instead, they refocused to show they could compete with the top team in the Eastern Conference.

William Nylander scored twice and added an assist, and James van Riemsdyk scored the go-ahead goal in the third period, to lead Toronto to a 4-3 win over the Lightning.
