George Schrijver, the main facilitator, spoke to a group of 17 interested farmers and rural-based entrepreneurs at the Feb. 6-7 workshop held at the Emo Inn. “Growing Your Opportunities–A Quest for New Farm Value Workshops” was enthusiastically received by all of the local participants.

Fish fry

Marg and Gord Woollard were among the 167 people who brave the blustery weather Saturday evening to attend the fish fry at the Emo Legion. Everyone on hand enjoyed an excellent meal, as well as a chance to visit with relatives and friends.

Literacy Day

Alyssa Van Drunen helped entertain fellow students and community members during Family Literacy Day activities yesterday at Donald Young School in Emo. “Seussical the Musical” will be performed at DYS during the week of Feb. 23.

Emo news

A fish fry supper will be held this Saturday (Jan. 31) from 5-7 p.m. at the Emo Legion.

Admission is $12 for adults and $5 for children six and under, with take-out meals being available prior to 4:30 p.m.

Come out and support the Legion, have a fantastic meal, and visit with friends.

‘Royal Reader’

Kathy Smeeth, math co-ordinator for the Rainy River District School Board, was among the “Royal Readers” from across the district who read to students from JK-Grade 4 in their classrooms during the Family Literacy Day activities yesterday at Donald Young School.
