The Emo and District Lions Club's inaugural “dog walk” on Sunday afternoon was deemed a success by those in attendance.
Thanks to the donations of the public who supported the eight dogs and their 22 walkers, and a matching donation from a generous sponsor, the club raised $1,473 for the Dog Guides of Canada.
The Fort Frances Lions Club and the Fort Frances Voyageur Lions Club are hosting a golf tournament at Kitchen Creek on Saturday, June 23 starting at 9 a.m.
The entry fee of $100 each, or $400 for a four-person team, includes 18 holes of golf, use of a cart, and supper.
Chapple Heritage and Borderland Community Orchestra will present an evening of music on Tuesday, May 29 at the Barwick Hall.
There is no admission to attend but a free-will offering in support of the Chapple Museum would be appreciated.
Scott Woods and his band literally fiddled up a storm at the Emo Legion last Wednesday, which was the title of this year's tour. Scott, his sister, Kendra Norris, and Leo Stock, a young Canadian Open champion, entertained a very appreciative crowd. They will be back in the district—in Dryden on June 15—if you missed the Emo show.
The Township of Emo will be hiring summer students (aged 15-30) who will be returning to school in the fall.
Applications will be accepted until 3 p.m. on Monday, May 14 for the following positions: Recreation Program Assistant/Co-ordinator and Labourer for the Parks Department.

Wednesday, May 9 will mark the return of the famous Scott Woods band to the area.

Marissa Kinnear-Esselink and her daughter, Paisley, were on hand at Cloverleaf Grocery to receive her $500 food coupon from Emo and District Lions Club president Jodi Caul. The annual “Lions Share Grocery Raffle” was a huge success thanks to residents of the district. The first-place winner will receive their prize at a later date.
