Library to hold grand opening

The Emo Public Library will be holding an official opening of its new accessible addition on Friday, April 20 at 1 p.m. in conjunction with Spring Fever Days.

A representative from the Trillium Foundation, as well as local dignitaries, will be on hand for the grand opening.

Refreshments will be served, and the public is welcome to attend.

‘Farmers Night’ a huge success

The second-annual “Farmers Night,” which took place Saturday at the Barwick Hall, was deemed a huge success by members of the Emo and District Lions Club.

Despite the fact several other major events were taking place across the district that night, a near capacity crowd enjoyed a fabulous ham and turkey supper, complete with salads, baked potatoes, vegetables, buns, and dessert.

Call out for help to sew

The local Alzheimer’s Society is looking for volunteers to sew lap-sized “Touch Quilts” for those suffering from the disease.

These quilts are made of fabrics which provide tactile and visual stimulation.

When you’re in Emo, stop by the Hair and Body Care Shoppe to see a sample and pick up an instruction sheet.

‘Peter Pan’ ready to take flight next week

Students and staff at Sturgeon Creek School have spent the last couple of months preparing for their first musical production in many years.

“Peter Pan,” which stars Janissa Judson in the leading role, will take place next Monday and Tuesday (March 5-6) at 7 p.m. in the school gym.

Tickets cost $5 for adults and $4 for seniors and students under 18 (pre-schoolers are free).
