Registration deadline for PC vote extended

TORONTO—Ontario's Progressive Conservatives have extended a registration deadline by one day for those wanting to vote for a new leader, but party says it won't be pushing the deadline any further ahead.

Registration was to end last night, but the chairman of the leadership organizing committee tweeted yesterday afternoon that the deadline was extended to 8 p.m. today.

Man behind Christmas lights display dies in fall

An Ontario man known for decking his house in brilliant Christmas lights for more than three decades died this week after falling from his roof while tending to the annual display, his family said as members of the community mourned his death.

The family of Douglas Musson, of Burlington, Ont., said the 82-year-old had been trying to fix a leak Monday when the ladder he was on fell.

Woman wins ruling for assisted death

TORONTO—A judge says an Ontario woman with incurable erosive osteoarthritis fits a key requirement to receive a medically-assisted death after her doctor refused to help her because he feared criminal prosecution.

In a decision delivered in a Toronto court yesterday, Superior Court Justice Paul Perell ruled the woman's “natural death is reasonably foreseeable.”
