Brassard resigns as chef de mission

TORONTO—Freestyle skiing champ Jean-Luc Brassard, who earlier this year criticized the Canadian Olympic Committee’s handling of alleged sexual harassment by former president Marcel Aubut, has stepped down as Canada’s chef de mission for the Summer Games in Rio.

Back in February, Brassard told Radio-Canada he would considering resigning over the Aubut scandal.

Brooke Henderson’s first LPGA Tour win didn’t stop her from having to play golf on Mondays.

Henderson completed an eight-stroke victory Sunday at the $1.3-million (U.S.) Cambia Portland Classic to become the first Canadian to win an LPGA event since Charlottetown’s Lorie Kane in 2001.

She also was the Tour’s third-youngest champion ever at 17 years 11 months, and six days.
