Chiefs romp over Patriots

FOXBOROUGH, Mass.—Winning at New England when the Patriots are coming off an historic Super Bowl victory is worth getting a little wild over.

That's not the Kansas City Chiefs' style. Not even when a rookie is setting records.

Kareem Hunt, after fumbling on his first NFL carry, scored three times and set an NFL mark in a 42-27 stunner last night to open the season.

Broncos’ ‘D’ smothers Panthers

SANTA CLARA, Calif.—Peyton Manning gave himself a chance to have “Super” ending to his career, and Von Miller and the Denver defence made the plays to secure the title for the Broncos.

Manning and Panthers’ quarterback Cam Newton were harassed all game yesterday, but the Broncos made enough big plays for the 24-10 victory—Manning’s 200th and perhaps his last before retirement.

Panthers roar past Cardinals

CHARLOTTE, N.C—Superman is bringing his cape and his pen to Super Bowl 50.

He’s leaving behind his camera.

“Yeah, we are going to the Super Bowl. We are not going just to take pictures,” Cam Newton said yesterday after leading the Carolina Panthers into the big game with a 49-15 rout of Arizona for the NFC championship.

“We are trying to finish this thing off.”
