A Valentine luncheon, hosted by St. John's Anglican Church, will be held there Friday, Feb. 9 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. It will feature assorted soups, sandwiches, and dainties, as well as a bake table. Admission is $8 for adults and everyone is welcome.

The Fort Frances Lakers will host the Thunder Bay North Stars in SIJHL action on Friday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena. Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for students, and $5 for kids aged 12 and under.

The Muskie boys' hockey team's annual tea and bake sale will be held Saturday, Feb. 10 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the FFHS cafeteria. There will be an extensive array of goodies and penny table prizes, along with refreshments, sandwiches, and dainties. Admission is $5 and be sure to register for the door prize.

A free lunch for all community volunteers, hosted by the Fort Frances Volunteer Bureau and Judy Kielczewski, will be held Saturday, Feb. 10 at the old CN station. Volunteers are encouraged to drop by anytime from noon-2 p.m. to have a meal consisting of sloppy joes, coleslaw, potato chips, coffee/juice, and dessert.

The Muskie boys' hockey team will host the Red Lake Rams in NorWOSSA action on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 7:15 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena. Admission is $7 for adults, $2 for students, and free for those under 12.

A “Shrove Tuesday” pancake supper will be held Tuesday, Feb. 13 from 5-7 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit. Admission is a donation to its outreach projects. Everyone is welcome.

Tour de Fort presents the Motus O production, “Prisoner of Tehran,” on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Townshend Theatre (doors open at 7 p.m.) Open to passport-holders but a limited number of individual tickets will be available for sale at the theatre box office on the night of the show.

“The Big Gay Mexican Mardi Gras,” presented by Borderland Pride, is set for Thursday, Feb. 15 from 7-10 p.m. at Barajas Mexican Grill in Internationals Falls (1323 3rd St.) This is an all-ages event, with admission being free. The 51st-annual Church Bonspiel will be held Saturday, Feb. 17 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Fort Frances Curling Club. Open to any combination of four players and all ages welcome! The entry fee is $100/team, which includes three six-end games and lunch. Awards for the first- and second-place teams. The FMG Ice Dragons Challenge, hosted by the International Boundary Waters Dragon Boat Club, will be held Saturday, Feb. 17 from 3-9 p.m. on the ice by La Place Rendez-Vous. The course is 200 metres long and there will be three divisions: men's, women's, and mixed. There are 10 people per team (ages 12+) and the registration fee is $500/team. The fourth-annual John Gibbins Memorial Family Day Fish Derby will be held Monday, Feb. 19 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. from the government dock in Morson. Minnows available on-site. The adult entry fee is $35 prior to 4 p.m. on Feb. 17 and $40 on the day of the event, with it being $5 for kids and $10 for extra holes (two-hole limit). The Rainy River District Right Relations Circle will hold a screening of the documentary, “Colonization Road,” followed by a panel discussion, on Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 7-9 p.m. at the Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre.

The Legion Ladies Auxiliary will hold its next monthly supper—featuring lasagna, Caesar salad, and all the fixings—on Friday, Feb. 23 at 5:30 p.m. upstairs at the Legion (doors open at 4:30). Admission is $16/person and a 50/50 draw also will be held. Take-outs available by calling 274-3772.

Borderland Soccer will hold its annual general meeting on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. at La Place Rendez-Vous. Several executive positions are available. All are welcome, with team reps (or someone from each team) strongly encouraged to attend.
