MIRIAM LAURAIN BISSCHOP

MIRIAM LAURAIN BISSCHOP
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Laurain Bisschop (nee Gibson), who passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at Lake of the Woods District Hospital with her family at her side.

Laurain was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend to many.
She was born Aug. 6, 1936 in Brantford, Ont., where she met her husband, Bert. Together, they worked hard to raise their six children while embarking on numerous business ventures, the most recent being “The Bakery” in Nestor Falls, Ont.
Laurain dedicated her life to the Lord, and spent much of her time serving Him through church and community activities. She was the cornerstone of her family; an anchor and source of encouragement.
She modelled herself after the woman described in Proverbs 31:10-31, “Her price is far above rubies.”
Throughout her life, she imparted her love of Christ and enjoyment of life to her children and to everyone whose life she touched.
She was always up for an adventure and one of her fondest memories was of getting her pilot’s license and giving each of her children a ride in her twin engine plane. Although her flying days ended in the ’70s, she managed to get airborne again in 2006 when parasailing in the Caribbean.
Her memory will be held dear in the hearts of her loved ones, her sisters, Lillian Coggins and Barb (Jack) Swan; her children, Wanda (Tim) Durbin, Tim (Zina) Bisschop, Eunice (Dave) Wallin, Veronica (Mark) Haber, Randy (Tammy) Bisschop, and Tina (Jamie) McLeod; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bert Bisschop; brothers, Alec, David, and Wes Gibson; and brother-in-Christ, Bob Coggins.
A viewing will be held at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre in Kenora, Ont. on Thursday, May 1, 2008 from 7-9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held Friday, May 2, 2008 at Lakeside Baptist Church, with Pastor Allan Rundel officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to New Tribe Missions (www.ntm.org), P.O. Box 1000, Durham, Ont. N0G 1R0 or to Gideons International at 1-888-482-4253) or www.gideons.ca
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
And He that sat upon the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.”
Revelation 21: 4-5
